Overview:
Includes many built in resources for the student to access their understanding at the beginning, middle, and end of each lesson.
Includes informal and formal assessment options for the teacher to assess student knowledge early and prescribe appropriate intervention.
Designed for a wide range of students’ interests and abilities.
Includes test prep that covers the basics and develops high order thinking.
Provides several online resources: Lesson Tutorial Videos, interactive practice with feedback, and online study tools including Homework Help and Online games and projects.
Student Handbook provides students with an easy way to lookup terms in the glossary and topics in the index.
Course Outline:
Assessments will consist of Chapter Tests, quizzes during each chapter, as well as a Semester Test at the end of each semester. Projects will also be used to assess student learning.

Expectations:
1. Be in Class
- Success in mathematics is dependent on attendance (absences and tardies will be handled according to school policy).
2. Be Prepared for Class
- Have all materials in class and be in your seat when the bell rings.
- You will not be allowed to go to your locker during class time.
- All assignments should be completed on time.
3. Be Respectful and Cooperative
- Follow instructions
- Treat others as you would like to be treated
- Take care of school property
4. Follow Standards for Completion of Assignments
- Show your work so I can see your understanding.
- Be organized, have a 3-ring binder specifically for math
- Use a pencil
5. Come In and Get Help When Necessary
- Take responsibility for your own learning
- Make an appointment during my office hours.
If You Choose to Break a Rule:
First Time: Warning or reminder
Second Time: Detention assigned.
Third Time: Student will be removed from the room, detention will be assigned and parent or guardian will be notified.
Fourth Time: Teacher will meet with student and parent.
Severe disruption (physical dangerous behavior, illegal acts, or insubordinate behavior) will result in the student being sent immediately to the office.
Technology
To avoid students being off-task and missing learning opportunities, the math department is not allowing phones for calculators nor chromebooks for calculators. Phones/headphones may not be in sight at any time during the hour. Chromebooks will be used on class assignments when the teacher has instructed to use them. Students may access the textbook online when not in the math classroom. Students’ devices will be taken away if they are not following the rules.
As a member of a 1:1 program, it is your responsibility to bring your device to class each day charged and ready for use. Failure to do so will result in your being sent to the Media Center to receive a violation. If your device is in need of charging it will be kept and charged for the remainder of the class hour or until it reaches 50%. It is your responsibility to pick it up between classes. Loaner devices are available only for devices that are mailed in for repair.
Violation #1 - Warning
Violation #2 - Detention
Violation #3 - Detention and loss of privilege to take device home for the period of 20 school days.
